Preparation & drainage
Each stone is bedded on compacted material — not soil — so they don't rock or sink. In pebble paths we contain the field with edging and let water drain straight through, as in our garden-lighting path project.

Most stepping-stone work is residential, but the same approach suits display suites, cafés and childcare gardens where a soft path needs to stay safe and level under daily traffic.

Common questions
How far apart should stepping stones be?
Around 60–65cm centre-to-centre suits a natural adult stride. We always lay stones out loose first and have you walk them before anything is dug in.
Will the stones sink into the lawn?
Not when bedded properly. Each stone sits on compacted bedding, flush with the surface — mower-friendly and stable underfoot.
Can you light the path?
Yes — low-voltage lighting along a path is an affordable upgrade that transforms how the garden feels at night.
